TVS Diodes

Bourns Surface-Mount TVS Diodes are low capacitance devices that provide ESD, EFT, and surge protection for external ports of electronic devices such as cell phones, handheld electronics, and other portable electronic devices. Bourns TVS Diodes include smaller chip diodes that have the capability to provide a silicon diode with minimal packaging overhead. The chip diodes 0603, 1005, 1408, and 2010 are leadless, allowing for maximum space on PCB layouts. All Bourns diodes are RoHS compliant and meet many worldwide industry and government regulations on lead-free components. TVS package diode design kits are also available from Bourns.

Gas Discharge Tube for RS-485 Ports

Bourns Gas Discharge Tube (GDT) for RS-485 Ports is designed to meet industry standards on RS-485 port interfaces and to provide circuit protection in noisy and harsh electrical environments. For exposed lines that may see large and fast surges and where failure is not acceptable, a three-stage Bourns protection system is recommended.

The markets of portable communications and telecom equipment are challenging the semiconductor industry to develop increasingly smaller electronic components for high-speed communication rates. Bourns CDSOD323-TxxC-DSL TVS Diodes offer working peak voltages of 12V and 24V in a bidirectional configuration, with low leakage currents of 1nA and typical capacitance of 3pF. These diodes conform to JEDEC standards, are easy to handle on standard pick-and-place equipment, and their flat configuration minimizes roll away. They meet IEC 61000-4-2 (ESD) and IEC 61000-4-4 (EFT) standards and assists in meeting IEC 61000-4-5 (surge) requirements.
