Available from Mouser, the RPR-0730 is an ultra-compact optical proximity sensor that integrates a proprietary 940 nm infrared IrVCSEL as the light source and ROHM's high-speed phototransistor as the light-receiving element. The result is faster, more precise detection, making it ideal for demanding applications such as print detection in multifunction and label printers, as well as rotation sensing in motors and gears – areas where conventional digital output types often fall short—utilizing a phototransistor with analog output as the receiver achieves a response time of 10 μs, enabling high-speed, accurate identification of fine lines as narrow as 0.1 mm, surpassing the performance of conventional LED light sources.
